Like Twinkling Stars
For SSA choir, a cappella
“Like Twinkling Stars” encapsulates the experience of flying in an airplane at night, and looking out at the lights of a city and realizing how small a single life can be. This song plays with unresolved dissonances to evoke the impression of the twinkling lights.

Like Twinkling Stars
Gina Friedrich
Watch the sunset as we take flight
into the evening glow.
Look into the darkness,
see the city lights below.
We can trace the constellations,
see the mural of our streets.
We drew our stories in the stars;
now they blossom at our feet.
There is magic in this moment,
when the earth becomes the sky.
I can see the galaxies
reflected in your eyes.
Every light a legacy,
how small, yet bright they are.
And so, they pierce the darkness,
and shine like twinkling stars.
